Entebbe City

Entebbe is a town located in central Uganda, it seats on the Northern shores of Lake Victoria and it’s situated in Wakiso district. Its 43km on the road, South West of Kampala the capital city of Uganda and it’s the major town in central Uganda.

History

Entebbe locally means a seat . This was named so because it’s where the Baganda chief sat to adjudicate legal cases. This place was first occupied by Sir Gerald portal a colonial administrator and the port bell was their harbor in 1893. Entebbe International airport where Queen Elizabeth II departed Africa to return to England in1952 when she learned of her father’s death thus making it famous in Europe. This place also was a scene of the rescue operation and a hostage situation in 1976 and was the final resolution talks to end the m23rebellion.

Attractions

Entebbe botanical gardens

All types of flora and fauna of Africa are here and the garden is divided into zones. In the botanical garden .tourists are guided throughout the zones expecting tourists to experience and spot some of the animals and trees in Uganda

Reptile village

This is a sanctuary for endangered reptiles and it protects over 50 critters visitors get a chance to have a close view of the deadly snakes, cobras and other deadly animals.

Mabamba swamp

This bay wetland is found on Lake Victoria and has got a narrow opening of water channel were drifting of papyrus and forms a part of Waiga bay south thus suitable for tourists view .

Uganda wildlife education centre [zoo ]

The zoo is a place where the injured, confiscated and orphaned animals are taken, also a place for learning about the animals. It’s a fun and exciting place to see all the animals of Uganda and the eco systems in which they live

Entebbe beaches

This place is a major town in Uganda known for hospitality. It has got lively beaches with the best sand around the shores of Lake Victoria and the natural breath all around it.

Fishing on lake Victoria

There is an opportunity of individual or group fishing. Getting a boat trip available and do fishing of the Nile perch within the fresh waters of Lake Victoria.

Ngamba Island chimpanzee sanctuary

The area is surrounded by the waters of Lake Victoria and it’s a home for orphaned Chimpanzees rescued from throughout Uganda. There is a possibility of a visitor to closely interact and observe the chimpanzees.
