Location
Lira is a city in the northern region of Uganda. Its 110km by road, south east of Gulu the largest city in the northern region and its 320 km by road north of Kampala the capital city of Uganda.
Lira was one of the last towns in Uganda to be held by loyalists of Idi Amin during the Uganda-Tanzania war and after the last clash in Lira, the remnants of the army completely disintegrated thereafter.
