Kasese

Location– This is a town found in Kasese district in western Uganda and it’s located along the equator. Its 359 km by road, west of Kampala Uganda’s capital Kampala.
History– Kasese town around Lake George and originally grew around the copper mine at Kilembe and later turned to Cobalt mining. The Rwenzururu areas are occupied by the Konjo and Amba people, they were given a district after the guerrilla war.


Attractions in Kasese
Queen Elizabeth Park- The park is found in Kasese district with its key tourist attractions including Kazinga channel, Katwe, Kilembe and Mubuku .There is also game drive in the north of the park were Kobs, elephants and buffalos and several lion families are.
Rwenzori mountains national park- There is mountain climbing through the dense montane forests and the terrain to three equatorial snow covered peaks as the main attraction.
Kibale national Park- Part of the park is found in Kasese and it has the natural rain forest reserves recognized internationally. There are also large varieties of birds and primates like chimpanzees.


How to get there
Kasese is situated 370 km by road, west of Kampala and it takes about 6 hours and a half to get there in a private car.
